ranting & raving about stuff that gets me on my high horse or rips my nightie with more than a question or two thrown in because I don't understand the world around me

Cycling Heros

Cycling Heros

I don't like talking about people as my hero, I'm not sure why, it just seems as though I'm making them out to be more than they are. However, this guy, Mark Beaumont, is a significantly better and way more accomplished rider than me. He has already broken the world record for riding around the world, but I meet him tonight as he is on his way around the world again. This time his aim, and he is currently in target, is 80 days. A good week of riding for me is half of what he is doing everyday to make this.

We as humans are capable of incredible feats. It surprises me how few of us have the willingness and mental strength to achieve what we're actually capable of. Maybe one day I'll take on Tour Aotearoa and achieve something far greater than I ever have before (physically).

Stats

Stats

Numbers can be revealing and I think tracking things is important. Personally I tend to inflate the time I *think* I spend on good things and deflate how long I spent on less good activities. So the ability to know exactly how long I exercised or slept is helpful because it informs decisions about my health and well-being.

I'm not sure podcast stats are useful, but they're interesting, especially how much time I've skipped!

Adventures

Adventures

On one of those perfect Wellington days we hiked the 3km to the top of our hill a had afternoon tea sitting on (and occasionally leaping off)  the boulders. There were plenty more photos but I like this one ☺️ You can see Wellington and Porirua but this photo only captures Wellington (and some sheep on a rock if you look carefully). It wasn't easy getting them out the door, but it was worth it 😀

Cuba Street

Cuba Street

First gig of the year last night. Also the first time playing the trombone after the last gig of 2016 (December)! Bit rough, but lots of fun and great response from people.

Camping 101

Camping 101

On the KiDadventure two of the boys packed well with all the normal trappings of bedtime (pictured here). The other one? All he took was a drink bottle, iPad, headphones and clean underwear!

MJ on a Track Bike

The Olympics inspired MJ to try track cycling and tonight was the first night at the club. Clip in shoes and a flash, fixed wheel track bike.

New Tracks

New Tracks

They're being created all around Wellington! This is Te Whiti Riser and it is a great way up the Wainui hill from the Hutt side. I think the boys could manage their way up without struggling (well not too much).
